The Indiana State Police, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Starke County Sheriff’s Office are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the 26th Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The initiative seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through proper disposal of unwanted prescription drugs.
Collection sites will be set up for expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs which will be properly disposed of without threat to the environment.
All Indiana State Police Posts will be collecting prescription medication from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. The Indiana Toll Road Post is typically not a collection site.
Marshall County Sheriff Matthew Hassel announced that the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will be participating in the DEA National Drug Take Back Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET. Officers will be at the Walgreens parking lot at 2014 N. Michigan Road in Plymouth to collect unwanted or expired drugs.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office at 5435 E. State Road 8 in Knox and the San Pierre Fire Department at 102 S. Fisher Street in San Pierre will be host sites for the collection of unwanted or expired medications. Tablets will be collected, as well as capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs with no questions asked from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT.
