A Knox resident was arrested Saturday, April 27 after a search warrant reportedly yielded drugs.
According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, after a months-long investigation, officers from the newly created Strategic Response Team, Detective Bureau, Knox City Police Department, and North Judson Police Department executed the search warrant at a residence in the 900 South block of Main Street in Knox. Officers seized 17 grams of methamphetamine, according to the report.
Police say the investigation stems from information obtained from multiple overdoses. It was discovered that illegal narcotics were allegedly being distributed in close proximity to the school corporation.
Matthew Diaz, 29, is being held on preliminary charges of dealing in methamphetamine as a Level 2 Felony and possession of methamphetamine as a Level 4 Felony, and possession of marijuana.
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
