Starke County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatality Accident

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office investigated an accident Monday, April 29 that claimed the life of a Chesterton woman.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road 200 North and County Road 600 East in Starke County at 5:52 a.m. CT. Police say the preliminary results of the investigation found that a white Hyundai Elantra driven by 26-year-old Alyssa Ramey, of Chesterton, was traveling west on 200 North when she crossed the intersection with 600 East and drove into the path of a northbound burgundy Dodge Challenger driven by 53-year-old Kimberly Wilke, of Knox.

Ramey was pronounced dead at the scene. The family has been notified.

Wilke sustained neck and chest pain and was treated and transported by medics to a local hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Knox Police Department, Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department, Starke County EMS, and the Starke County Coroner’s Office.
