The Hamlet Town Council approved a quote from Covenant Concrete for the 50/50 sidewalk program.
The total came in at $23,500 with five residents signing up for the project. All five will be funded if they decide to continue with the program. Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts said one applicant has withdrawn.
In other news, the Community Crossings Matching Grant projects are nearly complete.
The council previously approved a bid from Milestone Contractors North in the amount of $177,474.75. The town received $133,106.06 in grant funds. The town’s 25 percent match is $44,368.69.
The projects include chip sealing on Jefferson Street from Railroad to Indiana, which has yet to be scheduled, and the reconstruction of Ashland Street, Washington Street, and Lincoln Street, Madison Street from Division to Hamlet, Hamlet Street from Davis to Railroad, and McCormick Street from Pearl to Davis.
The Hamlet Town Council will next meet Wednesday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. CT where a second public hearing is set for the town’s proposed water project which is anticipated to be paid for with a grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
