Mitch Markovitz to Receive Sagamore of the Wabash Friday, May 17

Commercial Artist Mitch Markovitz, of Knox, will be receiving the Sagamore of the Wabash honor Friday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. CT at the Beverly Shores Depot and Art Museum at 525 South Broadway in Beverly Shores, Indiana.

According to the State of Indiana’s website, the Sagamore of the Wabash award is highest honor, of which the Governor of Indiana bestows. It is a personal tribute usually given to those who have rendered a distinguished service to the state or to the governor. Among those who have received Sagamores have been astronauts, presidents, ambassadors, artists, musicians, politicians, and ordinary citizens who have contributed greatly to Hoosier heritage.

Markovitz has illustrated many pieces following the art of trains and historic places and attractions in Indiana, including structures and sites around Starke County.

Parking for the event will be available in the commuter lot behind the Depot.
