North Judson-San Pierre School Board Receives Cooperative Update

North Judson-San Pierre School Superintendent Kelly Shepherd updated the school board last week that the Starke County Special Education Co-op has agreed to hire two new Special Education positions.

“One will be housed at Oregon-Davis and one at Knox,” explained Shepherd. “Those positions were approved through Knox’s school board. Our cooperative will be using those throughout the county.”

All nine schools that participated in the JESSE Special Education Cooperative withdrew from the organization as of 2023. Starke County has its own cooperative to assist needs with students at Knox, North Judson-San Pierre and Oregon-Davis School Corporations.

Knox Community School Superintendent Greg Mikulich previously stated that Shannon Kietzman will be transferring into the position of Behavior and Academic Support for grades 5-8 at Knox Schools and the board approved the new hire of Ashley Thayer to Behavior and Academic Support for grades 9-12 at Oregon-Davis Schools for the 2024-2025 school year.
