Members of the Oregon-Davis School Board were given a report on the Strengthening Bobcats program.
The program began in October in an effort to offer students in grades 3-6 an opportunity to meet with teachers after school to receive extra attention for assistance with tutoring on skills and standards. The students received extra help in literacy and Math in order to pass the ILEARN and IREAD tests.
The teachers discussed what they accomplished during the time after school. They made an effort to make learning fun with different ways to understand standards and commented that the kids really enjoyed their time after school. The program ended last week with the end of the school year looming.
The school board members commended the teachers for taking the time to meet with the students after school and giving them tools to help with school work and a positive experience. Board member Lee Nagai commented that the ability to give students individual attention is an advantage at Oregon-Davis Schools.
