Starke County Sheriff’s Office Calls Drug Take Back Day a Success

Officials from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office released information from last month’s partnership with the DEA for the Drug Take Back event.

The initiative seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through proper disposal of unwanted prescription drugs.

They say 87 pounds of medications were collected at the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and at the San Pierre Fire Department on the single, four-hour collection event Saturday, April 27.

Another event will be held in October.

Residents are reminded that there is a permanent medication drop-off container in the entryway at the Starke County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with expired, unused or unwanted medication can dispose of it safely by dropping it off at the site at any time with no questions asked. Liquids or sharps will not be collected.
