A Gary man was arrested Friday, July 12 after deputies from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the North Judson Police Department were notified of a disturbance at a residence in the 200 block of Center Street in San Pierre just after 6 p.m. CT.
Prior to their arrival officers learned a firearm was believed to have been displayed and fired.
Deputies secured the scene and found this was an alleged dispute among family members. With the help of investigators from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, responding deputies were able to locate and secure physical and video evidence to support the claims of the male victim, according to the report.
The suspect, 29-year-old Chad Miller, of Gary, was taken into custody on scene without incident. He was booked into the Starke County Justice Center, along with an active warrant out of Porter County. Bond was set at $15,000 cash.
Formal charges have been filed by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office which include intimidation, criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, and pointing a firearm at another person.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
