Two structure fires were called into the Starke County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center over the weekend.
The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department was called to a fire at 2460 W. State Road 10 in North Judson Saturday, June 29 in the afternoon where firefighters were able to take quick action to knock down the fire. Fire Chief Todd Jackson told WKVI News that there was 65 percent damage to the structure and the fire remains under investigation. The home owner suffered minor injuries, as well as another individual working at the residence. Both were transported from the scene by Starke County EMS.
The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department was also assisted by the Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Bass Lake-California Township Fire Department, Starke County Sheriff’s Office, and Starke County EMA.
The Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department was called to a fire at 5995 N. 600 E. Sunday, June 30 just before 1:30 p.m. CT. Fire Chief Brad Hazelton told WKVI News that the fire was contained to the small area of the kitchen and the fire was determined to be electrical. There were no injuries.
The Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department was assisted by Starke County Dispatch, Starke County EMS, Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department, Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Starke County EMA, and the Red Cross.
