The North Judson-San Pierre School Board members discussed an upcoming sidewalk project around the school’s campus.
Superintendent Kelly Shepherd said the school is working with the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Town of North Judson in this proposed project.
“We are going to have some sidewalk projects that will impact the school and therefore the board just needed to give some easement access so that INDOT can complete those sidewalk projects near our property,” said Shepherd.
Shepherd said the idea with the project is to connect the school with a safe route to the park and to the downtown area.
Shepherd continued, “At some our points where we cross Bluejay Drive and Campbell here by the school, we will get ADA accessible spots along the sidewalk for crossing the road, but that way the sidewalks will get tied all the way past our bus garage and get our kids more safely down at least to the park area – and then from there all the way downtown.”
The project is proposed to start in 2027.
The board did approve the easement requests as presented during their meeting Tuesday, July 16.
