The Oregon-Davis School Board members discussed the purchase of school buses when they met last week.
Superintendent Bill Bennett explained that two used buses were for sale from Central States Bus Sales. A 2023 bus has 29,000 miles and a 2022 bus has 49,000 miles and they come from a school corporation that trades in school buses nearly every year. Both buses are Bluebird brand diesel buses which matches a majority of the brand of buses already on the fleet.
This shrinks the average age of the route fleet to 4.5 years.
There will be three buses that will be sold at later date.
The purchase prices for both of the buses coming to the corporation is $185,000.
Bennett noted that the corporation has saved a significant amount of money going this route of purchasing school buses over the last couple of years.
The board unanimously approved the purchase as presented.
