The Pulaski County Commissioners discussed a request regarding the Vietnam War Memorial during their meeting Monday morning.
Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer explained that there is a war memorial on the northwest side of the Pulaski County Courthouse lawn near the flagpole. Members of the VFW Auxiliary are planning a fundraiser to erect a new war memorial in the same location. They are not asking for county funds unless there is concrete that would need to be poured at a time when concrete work is being done at the courthouse as the renovation project progresses.
Origer said he spoke with Tonn and Blank officials and they may work to find the best placement for the memorial in case there would be plans in the future to put up other memorials.
The commissioners commented that the project sounds great and agreed to approve the VFW Auxiliary’s request. There was no exact date given during the meeting on when the fundraiser would begin.
