The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a call about an incident where a caller reported a man lying on the road on U.S. 35 near Winamac on Sunday, July 14 just before midnight ET.
According to police, the caller reported to dispatchers that the man had injuries that were consistent with being struck with a motor vehicle. Emergency responders were dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, the man, identified as 40-year-old Joshua Jaeger, of Rochester, was tended to by emergency personnel, stabilized for transport and flown to a hospital, according to the report. Police say he was listed in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon.
Shortly after the initial call, 21-year-old Gage Morris, of Knox, was said to have self-reported striking something unknown in the roadway. Law enforcement contacted the driver and it was determined the two accident calls were related, according to the report.
Police say they have information that a pedestrian was walking southbound on U.S. 35 in the area of County Road 250 North in Pulaski County when he was struck by a southbound vehicle. All involved are in stable condition and the investigation is ongoing.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Pulaski County EMS, and the Winamac Fire Department.
