Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday, July 24 at 4:43 p.m. CT at the intersection of U.S. 35 and County Road 500 N. near Hamlet.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found a Toyota Camry driven by 46-year-old Brandy Ford upside down in the ditch with water on the southwest corner of the intersection. A Jeep Compass driven by 57-year-old Roger Goble, of La Porte, was also off to the southwest corner of the intersection, but still on all four wheels. Both vehicles had heavy damage from the accident, according to the report.
Police say Goble disregarded a stop sign as he was driving west on 500 North and drove into the path of Ford’s vehicle. Ford attempted to swerve to miss the Jeep however was unable to and the accident occurred.
A passenger in Goble’s vehicle, 58-year-old Tammy Watson, was airlifted from the scene and taken to a regional hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident. Goble was not injured. Ford was taken to the local hospital for possible injuries.
