Officials at the North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation are preparing for the first football game of the season this Friday and the first game happens to be one of the biggest rivalry football games you will find.
North Judson-San Pierre School Superintendent Kelly Shepherd said the corporation is the host this year for the North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays and Knox Redskins football game and several special events are planned surrounding Friday’s game.
Shepherd stated, “Whiskey Thomas is going to have a concert here at Central Office starting at 4:30 p.m. Friday. At halftime of the game, we are honoring our 1984 State runner-up football team. It’ll be their 40th Anniversary. We also have the Class of 1974 celebrating their 50th Class Reunion. We’ll have a couple of food trucks starting at 4 p.m. Those are some of the activities we’ve got going on Friday night in addition to the main event of the Bluejay and Redskin football game.”
There will also be an induction of former student and player, David Haugh, into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame at the beginning of the game.
The game will be broadcast live 6:30 p.m. CT on Kankakee Valley Broadcasting’s WKVI with Sports Director Mitch Columbe and Sports Analyst Chris McGowen. Updates from other area games will be given during the game with Justin Ruff.
It was noted during the North Judson Town Council meeting Monday night that Ufkes Drive will be closed to assist with the flow of traffic and make it safer for pedestrian traffic.
