Oregon-Davis School Board Approves Updated School Bus Driver Pay

The Oregon-Davis School Board members took action Wednesday, July 31 to approve an adjustment in bus driver pay.

Superintendent Bill Bennett said drivers who have under 45 miles in a route will paid $95 a day. Drivers who have a route from 46 to 60 miles will be paid $105 a day, and drivers with routes that are 61 miles and over will be paid $115 a day. There was also a pay increase for drivers who transport students in extra-curricular activities and field trips. That pay will be $60 a trip and $12 an hour for anything over five hours.

Additionally, the school board approved handbooks for students and faculty, and board policies pertaining to attendance and personal communication devices.

Bennett explained that the policies follow new state code that address unexcused absences and cell phone use. The policies address parent or guardian contact with unexcused absences, and that students will not be allowed to use cell phones in the classroom unless otherwise permitted. Students will be able to use cell phones before and after school, while on the bus, and during the lunch period.
