Emergency responders were called to a residence in the 9,000 East block of State Road 8 after receiving a call about a man with an apparent gunshot wound Sunday, August 11 at 1:13 a.m. CT.
When police arrived at the scene, they were able to secure the area and found 20-year-old Dakwan Quinn, of Rockford, Illinois, who was transported to a regional hospital for a single gunshot wound to the chest. A Lake County Sheriff’s Office helicopter unit was requested to assist in the investigation.
As a result, 25-year-old Latazameshia Jones, of Illinois, 26-year-old Daijash Quinn, of Rockford, Illinois, and 43-year-old Andre Ligon, of Iowa, were taken into custody on outstanding warrants. Mack Jones, 32, of Illinois, was taken into custody and faces a preliminary charge of disorderly conduct. All subjects were transported to the Starke County Justice Center for processing.
Police say the incident is an isolated event and is not a threat to the community, and it remains under investigation.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Knox City Police Department, Hamlet Police Department, Walkerton Police Department, North Judson Police Department, Indiana State Police, Starke County EMS, and the Washington Township Fire Department.
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
