The Pulaski County Election Board discussed the transport of voting machines during the General Election during their most recent meeting.
Pulaski County has gotten large storage cases that hold the voting machines, Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines, and the necessary accessories to keep that equipment together and sealed. The cases take up a lot more room than the previous cases that carried just the voting machines.
The cases with the equipment, which transform into voting booths on Election Day, weighs about 50 pounds and are large and bulky. The transport of the cases was discussed and the board agreed to check insurance to make sure a personal vehicle and trailer can be used for that action. A formal decision will come in a future board meeting.
Additionally, Clerk JoLynn Behny said she was going to ask the Pulaski County Council during budget discussions to replace half of the county’s voting machine panels, which is 20, at a cost of $56,000. The amount is in the requested budget for the Pulaski County Election Board in 2025. She noted the budget does look a bit different for 2025 as there are no elections in 2025.
