The Starke County Election Board members took action Wednesday, August 14 to approve the early voting schedule for the 2024 General Election.
Early voting begins in the state Tuesday, October 8. In-person early voting in Starke County will be in the second floor conference room in the Starke County Courthouse at 53 E. Washington in Knox from Tuesday, October 8 to Friday, November 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT. Voting will be Monday through Friday, but there will be no early voting Monday, October 7 due to the Columbus Day holiday.
Early voting will also be available at the courthouse Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Monday, November 4 from 8 a.m. to noon CT.
Two satellite locations will be open for early in-person voting. Voters may go to the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25 from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Voters may go to the Koontz Lake Sewer District Building Thursday, October 31 and Friday, November 1 from noon to 6 p.m., and Saturday, November 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT.
Eligible Starke County voters may vote at either of the satellite locations.
The Travel Board will collect votes Tuesday, October 29-Friday, November 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT. Dates and times may vary depending on the amount of voters. The Travel Board may travel to contiguous counties to retrieve votes from Starke County residents. For more information, call the Starke County Voter Registration Office at 574-772-9160.
The last day to register to vote is Monday, October 7. Voters may register online at indianavoters.com or at the Starke County Clerk’s Office. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot by mail is Saturday, October 24. Mail-in absentee ballots must be returned to the Clerk’s Office by Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.
The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT on General Election Day Tuesday, November 5 at the Bass Lake-California Township Fire Department, the James R. Hardesty Community Center in Hamlet, Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center in Knox, the Koontz Lake Sewer District Building, North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department, Railroad Township-San Pierre Fire Department, and the Washington Township Community Building.
