Starke County Sheriff’s Office Encourages Safe Return to School

Starke County Sheriff Jack Rosa and his staff encourage drivers and students to have a great start to the school year.

Officers ask that drivers slow down in school zones. Watch for children crossing the street and adhere to posted speed limits. Avoid distractions while driving. Keep eyes on the road and be mindful of school buses and pedestrians. Always stop when a school bus has its stop sign extended and red lights flashing. Encourage children to use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing streets. Remind them to avoid talking to strangers. Ensure children know their route and who to contact in case of an emergency.
