Officials from the Oregon-Davis School Corporation are investigating a recent threat made against the Oregon-Davis Jr./Sr. High School.
The student allegedly involved in the threat has been immediately removed from the school and that student is currently receiving appropriate mental health treatment, according to a press release issued by the school corporation. The release also states that in partnership with the School Resource Officer and local law enforcement agencies, a thorough investigation is being conducted into the matter. Initial findings reportedly suggest that this case stems from an extreme incident of bullying. As a result, the press release notes that multiple individuals are being investigated and officials are exploring all possible angles.
If probable cause is determined at the conclusion of the investigation, appropriate charges will be filed.
The corporation states that there is a commitment to maintaining the safety and well-being of all of the students and staff. Enhanced safety protocols are in place and counseling support is being offered to any students affected by the situation. Parents and guardians are encouraged to reach out to the school with any questions or concerns.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing and Superintendent Bill Bennett said due to this incident being an ongoing investigation and the age of individuals involved only so much information can be released at this time.
