The Winamac Town Council members opened a public hearing Tuesday, September 10 to take public comments on a proposed annexation of 17 acres east of the Town of Winamac for a proposed solar field.
Town Manager Brad Zellers said IMPA is working with the town to move forward in the process to install solar panels on that land and for that power to be used within the Town of Winamac. It would connected to the Winamac grid.
The proposed solar project would utilize 13 of the 17 acres to be annexed in a process to be heard in additional public meetings.
There were no comments heard on the topic during the hearing.
Additional information will be discussed in future meetings of the Winamac Town Council.
