Donations for Hurricane Victims to be Taken by Starke County EMS Volunteers when Deployed

Volunteers with Starke County EMS are awaiting the call in the second wave of relief efforts to help hurricane victims in the south. Until they are deployed, supplies will be collected to take with the volunteers when the call is initiated.

The Starke County Commissioners previously approved a request from EMS Director Jim Garner to send four volunteers and a county transfer ambulance to aid in hurricane relief efforts. The county will be reimbursed for any costs by FEMA. Garner told WKVI News that the commissioners approved the request last week and they are waiting for FEMA subcontractors GMR/AMR (Global Medical Response) to make the call for deployment.

If anyone would like to donate cleaning supplies, toiletry items, or cat and dog food, those items may be taken to the Knox EMS base at 1102 S. Main Street. If anyone would like to make a monetary donation toward relief efforts, visit the EMS Office on the ground floor of the Starke County Annex No. 1 building at 53 E. Mound Street in Knox.
