North Judson Town Council Approves Purchase of Body Cameras for Police Department

The North Judson Town Council members approved the purchase of body cameras for the North Judson Police Department during their meeting Monday, October 7.

Interim Town Marshal Frank Thomas presented a purchase order for five body worn cameras from Axon for a yearly cost of $4,895.74 for five years. The funding will come from the town’s opioid funds.

The department has been using trial cameras to see how they would work for the officers and all agreed that they are a great tool for officers in the field.

Thomas noted that any newer camera models will be swapped with the older technology when available at no cost as part of the agreement.

Additionally, Thomas said he is still looking for a fifth full-time officer for the department. He stated that Adam Stoll has been hired part-time officer for the North Judson Police Department who has previous experience with the department and years of experience in law enforcement. He is working with current officers to get acquainted with the town and he will soon be in the car on his own to patrol the town and answer calls.
