Most of the major components of the Town Park improvement project in the Town of North Judson are done.
During the October 7 meeting of the North Judson Town Council, Town Manager Joe Leszek said the playground assembly crew will be back to put the finishing touches on the new playground. The pour-in-place material was installed and police officers were assisting the company as nobody could be on the surface for a while so it could set.
Curbing was also completed around the playground and two new children’s implements will be installed that the Park Board purchased in 2019.
Leszek said residents are utilizing the park with its new features, but officials are urging residents to wait until construction is complete.
The Utility Department has been assisting with painting at the park to help bring the project together.
The DNR was in town to discuss trail work with the Prairie Trails Club before the last meeting and stopped at the park to look at the progress. The town obtained a Land and Water Conservation Grant in the amount of $500,000 to assist with funding the park improvement project.
The council will determine a ribbon cutting date during their regular meeting Monday, October 21.
The park has several new features including sidewalks, a walking trail, two pickleball courts, a pavilion with picnic tables, permanent cornhole boards, and beach volleyball. The basketball court was also resurfaced. The park is located at the corner of Weninger and George Streets.
