The Pulaski County Commissioners unanimously approved a motion Monday, October 7 to approve the resignation submitted by County Attorney Kevin Tankersley.
He stated that he drafted the contract to say that he would give 90 days notice of the termination of his contract with the county. He noted that it gives the commissioners time to find a replacement and for him to bring the next attorney in line to all of legal aspects of the county for a smoother transition.
He expressed that he has had a great relationship with the the current and past county commissioners and county council members for the last 14 years. He makes an annual determination on whether or not to continue working for the county, but he commented that his private practice has other opportunities available to him at this time.
He said that it has been an honor to serve the taxpayers of Pulaski County.
The commissioners thanked Tankersley for his service to county government and to the citizens of Pulaski County.
Tankersley further stated that he will assist in any way to help find his replacement.
Tankersley gave his last day as December 31, 2024.
