Officials with the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department reported a busy end to the month of October.
At the end of last week, firefighters responded to a structure fire. It was called into the Starke County Dispatch Center as a large detached garage fire. When firefighters arrived at the scene the home was also nearly involved but the garage flames were quickly tended to and the house cooled down. The Knox-Center Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
For the month of October, the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department was dispatched to six structure fire calls. Four of the calls had working fires with six total structures involved. One call the homeowner took care of and another call was a mutual aid call and the fire department was disregarded to the call.
On the fire department’s Facebook page, they thanked the Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Bass Lake-California Township Fire Department, San Pierre Fire Department, Starke County EMS, Starke County Sheriff’s Office, North Judson Police Department, Starke County EMA, and the Starke County Dispatch Center for assisting the department during a busy October.
A burn ban remains in effect in Starke County.
