The Knox City Police Department responded to a personal injury accident Wednesday, November 13 just after 4:30 p.m. CT near the intersection of Main Street and St. Louis Street in Knox.
According to the initial investigation, 45-year-old Cheryl Kreamer, of Knox, was traveling across Main St. on St. Louis St and failed to yield to traffic. As a result, she pulled directly in front of a moped being operated by 69-year-old Wiley Howard, of Knox.
Howard was unable to avoid a collision and was struck by the vehicle. Police say he was thrown from the moped and sustained injuries as a result of the impact. He was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and then transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment. His injuries are reported as non-life-threatening, and he is currently in stable condition.
Kreamer was not injured in the accident and remained on the scene to cooperate with the investigation.
Officers from the Knox City Police Department are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. At this time the investigation is ongoing.
“We encourage all drivers to remain vigilant and exercise caution when approaching intersections, especially in busy areas such as Main Street and St. Louis Street,” said Chief Chad Dulin of the Knox Police Department. “This accident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety on the roads, both for motorists and pedestrians alike.”
The Knox Police Department was assisted on the scene by the Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Starke County Sheriff’s Office and Starke County EMS.
