Pulaski County is applying for a grant to focus on broadband planning.
During Monday’s Pulaski County Commissioners meeting, Commission President Chuck Mellon said a resolution was drafted that needed to be approved pertaining to this grant.
Edwin Buswell from K-IRPC is assisting the county with applying for this grant. He explained that the county is applying for an Office of Community and Rural Affairs Community Development Block Grant in the amount of $50,000 in the form of a planning grant to develop a broadband plan for the county. The application is due November 15 with grant announcements planned for December 15.
The commissioners unanimously approved the resolution. In that resolution, it states that the county will use $5,600 in American Rescue Plan Act funds as a match for this grant.
The commissioners will hold a special meeting Tuesday, November 12 at 6:30 p.m. ET, prior to the Pulaski County Council meeting, in order to take public comments during a required public hearing before Buswell submits the grant application to the state. The meeting will be held in the Pulaski County Highway Garage at 1131 N. U.S. 35 in Winamac.
