Pulaski County Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer updated the commissioners on the Pulaski County Courthouse renovation project during their meeting Monday, November 18.
The basement drywall has been hung and some framing continues. The grids for the ceiling tiles have been installed and other wallpaper removal and other necessary prep work is being done on the walls on the second floor.
Painters are working on the tower and masonry work continues. Scaffolding on the courthouse tower should be coming down sometime before Christmas as workers are progressing on projects. However, exterior restoration work will continue until the end of the year. Tents will be put up to shelter workers in the event of inclement weather.
Origer presented a change order in the amount of $18,031.11 that addresses the north side sidewalk. The Town of Winamac is currently undergoing a sidewalk project on Main Street that involves that sidewalk. In order to keep with plans with Tonn and Blank and meet the needs of accessibility in the plans already approved for the county’s project, the change order is needed to finish the sidewalk portion with the county’s contractors. The concrete will be poured in the spring to complete that project. There will be ramps down to the street level to accommodate those with mobility issues to have easier access to the courthouse.
The commissioners approved the change order and asked Origer to have a conversation with the Town of Winamac for possible reimbursement of the cost of the change order due to coordination issues with the project.
