There was a good turnout of voters in Starke County with just under 58 percent of the registered voters casting a ballot in the November General Election. There were 5,507 early voters and 5,079 people who went to the polls Tuesday, November 5.
In local contested races, it was Republican Gwen Rentz defeating Democrat Thomas Schouten for Starke County Surveyor. For Starke County Commissioner District 1, it was Republican Michael VanDeMark defeating Democrat Lonnie Boley. There were six candidates vying for three Starke County Council At-Large seats. The top candidates were Republicans Bill R. Crase, Jr., Kay Gudeman and E. Todd Leinbach.
For the Knox Community School Board California-Washington Township seat, it was Thomas M. Browne defeating Micheal L. Lord and for the three Knox Community School Board Center Township seats, the voters chose Kirk Bennett, Autumn Ferch and Wendy McIntire as the top three candidates out of the five who filed a petition to be on the ballot.
There were two seats available for Oregon-Davis School Board At-Large. There were three candidates for those seats and the voters chose Corey Benjamin Lady and Lee Nagai.
