A Wheatfield man was arrested in the early morning hours Saturday, November 9 after leading officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office in a pursuit that spanned three counties.
Starke County Sheriff’s Office deputies were conducting a traffic enforcement in an area where residents have filed complaints. During this enforcement, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and disregarding a posted stop sign in the area of State Road 10 and U.S. 421, according to the report. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver continued southbound and through San Pierre at a high rate of speed.
The deputy reportedly recorded speeds of over 100 mph as the vehicle traveled south into Pulaski County. The pursuit that picked up officers from Pulaski County entered White County where the vehicle stopped in Monon.
The driver, 38-year-old Eric Drake, of Wheatfield, was taken into custody without further incident.
Drake was transported back to Starke County where he was booked into the Starke County Justice Center on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement, operating while intoxicated, and possession of marijuana.
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
