The Winamac Town Council members received a request for the vacation of a cul de sac/right-of-way from Wes Jackson from Indianapolis who is working on the development for new apartments on Terrace Drive off of State Road 14 in Winamac.
There were multiple lots for single family homes in that area and that were purchased as one to go with the existing nursing home. He said the cul de sac is not needed for access to lots, but the land is needed for the completion of the project.
Town Attorney Justin Schramm explained the a notice for the action of vacation would have to be advertised and then a public hearing held before the council can take action on the vacation ordinance. No letters will have to be mailed out as the developer is the owner of all surrounding property. The public hearing and ordinance vote is planned for Monday, December 9 during the regular meeting of the Winamac Town Council.
