Deputies with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Knox Police Department went to a residence on South East Street in Knox for a warrant check Saturday, December 28 at 8:17 p.m. CT. As officers approached, they could smell the distinct odor of marijuana emitting from the residence, according to the report.
Officers were greeted by a member of the household and granted entry to the residence. While speaking with subjects at the residence police say suspected marijuana and other paraphernalia were noticed in plain view. A search warrant was obtained for the residence.
Officers located a suspected methamphetamine pipe, marijuana, and other paraphernalia. After interviewing a household member, he was taken into custody.
George Howard, 51, of Knox, was taken to the Starke County Justice Center and booked on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
