Town Officials in North Judson Urge Residents to Avoid Frozen Water Pipes

With temperatures falling during this winter season, officials from the Town of North Judson are urging water customers to avoid frozen water pipes.

The town recommends that customers let a small stream of water trickle from faucets of about the size of a pencil lead to keep meters and pipes from freezing. Keep the water running even when it gets to be 30 degrees because the frost level is still below the meter and water lines. Keep snow around the meter pit as it acts as an insulator.

Utility crews are able to thaw out the meter at no charge for the first occurrence, but will be unable to thaw water lines.

Billing adjustments for extreme charges will be made on the wastewater portion of the utility bill.
