Winamac Town Council to Meet in Special Session

The Winamac Town Council will meet in special session today in order to have additional readings on several ordinances discussed during the council’s December 9 meeting.

Only three members were present for the December 9 meeting: Tom Murray, Alvin Parish and Judy Heater. They approved the first reading on all three ordinances, but a special meeting will be held today so all members can vote on additional readings of the ordinances.

The council approved the first reading of an ordinance that addresses over $78,000 in additional appropriations, an ordinance that pertains to benefits as part of the salary ordinance for 2025, and an ordinance that vacates a cul de sac on Terrace Drive off of State Road 14 in Winamac.

Public hearings were held on the additional appropriations and cul de sac vacation ordinances with no public comment.

The special meeting will be held at 7:30 a.m. ET today at the Winamac Town Hall at 120 W. Main Street in Winamac.

Following this special meeting, the Winamac Metropolitan Board of Police Commissioners will hold an emergency meeting in the same location.
