
Officers with the Knox City Police Department took the oaths of office Tuesday, January 14.
Knox Mayor Dennis Estok administered the oaths to the officers during the Knox Board of Works meeting. The officers were Derek Russell, Matthew Borkholder, Joe West, Kenny Pfost, Chad Dulin, Harold Smith III, Mike Elam, and Nathan Chambers. Two reserves were also sworn in including Riley Stoll and Ron Lawson.
Chief of Police of the Knox City Police Department Chad Dulin told the board members that body cameras and car cameras are in and will be installed. IPads are in for the new cars along with the parts.

In 2024, Dulin said the department conducted 1,128 business checks, 428 speak with officer incidents, 199 suspicious person calls, and there were 103 instances where officers were out with subjects. Dulin explained that it could be that people were in alleys and the officers were checking on activity.
There were also 2,083 traffic stops, 135 lockouts, 267 extra patrols, 65 thefts, and 48 disputes. Dulin pointed to the number of thefts which was greatly reduced in 2024 due to the active patrols and business checks.
In 2022, the Knox City Police Department responded to 3,988 calls, in 2023 the department responded to 4,889 calls, and in 2024 the department responded to 7,195 calls.
