Firefighters from the Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department were called to a fire at Howard and Sons Towing Monday, January 13 at about 1 p.m. CT.
Fire Chief Andy Lawrence said the fire was reported in the shop on the grounds of the business. When firefighters arrived at the scene, heavy smoke was showing. Quick entry was made and the fire was extinguished. He told WKVI News that damage was done to the building, two tow trucks, and two vehicles. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
The Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department, Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, and Washington Township Fire Departments were called first to the scene and a 1st alarm was requested which involved the Knox-Center Township Fire Department, Walkerton Fire Department and the Polk Township Fire Department as well. Starke County EMS was also at the scene.
