North Judson Town Council Discusses 2025 Salary Ordinances

The North Judson Town Council discussed the 2025 salary ordinances when they met for the last time in 2024.

Most positions saw an increase in pay – some saw small increases while others saw three percent and four percent increases.

The town marshal’s position was changed to an hourly wage and there were no changes made to fire compensation, the fire chief’s compensation, and to a deputy clerk position.

There were three different salary ordinances that were approved. To avoid violating nepotism laws, there were ordinances presented for certain council members to abstain from voting for those purposes. The documents were approved with abstentions as noted.

All pay changes went into effect January 1.

Additionally, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Election Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day will be observed as town holidays.

The council also appointed liaisons and representatives to various boards and commissions. There are two openings on the North Judson Plan Commission which need to be Republican members, and one citizen member for the Board of Zoning Appeals.
