Two people were arrested Wednesday, January 15 after a search warrant was conducted at a residence in North Judson.
Deputies with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the North Judson Police Department went to a residence in the 300 S. block of High St. in North Judson for a warrant check at 10:45 p.m. CT. While speaking to the homeowner, officers noticed a piece of glass in plain view that appeared to have a white residue, according to the report. Police say the substance field tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl. Officers also detected the distinct odor of marijuana emitting from the residence.
A search warrant was obtained. Police say officers conducted a search which resulted in the location of suspected methamphetamine/fentanyl, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
As a result, 39-year-old Riley Abernathy, of Knox, and 33-year-old Gabriell Hemmah, of North Judson, were taken into custody and transported to the Starke County Justice Center. They face preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
