Emergency responders were called to an accident on U.S. 30 involving a logging truck and a semi-dump truck just east of State Road 23 Monday, January 20.
According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found that the logging truck just turned off from State Road 23 and was headed east on U.S. 30. During this time, the semi-dump truck was already eastbound on U.S. 30. Police say the semi-dump truck did not have adequate time to slow down or change lanes, causing the truck to rear-end the logging truck.
The semi-dump truck struck the trailer and then rolled into the median losing its load.
No drivers were transported to medical facilities.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police Department of Transportation, Hamlet Police Department, Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department, and Starke County EMS.
