Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission to Hold Special Session

The Pulaski County Advisory Plan Commission will hold public hearings during a special session meeting Thursday, February 6 at 5 p.m. ET.

Public comment will be taken on a proposal to impose a two-year moratorium that would prohibit the acceptance, review, filing, or approval, of any application by any person, firm, or entity seeking to place or install a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on any property within the jurisdiction of Pulaski County. The moratorium would be for the purpose of understanding the impact of BESS within the zoning jurisdiction of Pulaski County, its effects on residents and natural resources, and to conduct appropriate studies and to gauge whether BESS is acceptable within Pulaski County, and if so, the extent to which regulations should be developed and enforced.

The Advisory Plan Commission will also take public comment on a proposal to recommend adjustments to the Pulaski County Unified Development Ordinance found in applications for all solar energy systems which include, but are not limited to; application process, setback language, safety standards, and clerical adjustment. They will also vote on recommending adjustments to the Pulaski County development fee schedule.
