Starke County Sheriff’s Office Releases 2024 Public Safety Report

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office released the 2024 public safety report.

There were 2 homicide investigations, 30 child abuse investigations, 8 sex offender violations, 9 assault investigations, 28 narcotics investigations, 19 death investigations, 47 theft/fraud investigations, 12 auto theft investigations, 4 rape investigations, 20 burglary investigations, 68 search warrants, 4 jail incidents, and 25 miscellaneous investigations including recklessness, intimidation, stalking and missing persons. There were 65 physical arrests.

There were 12,068 calls for service, 2,076 traffic stops, 276 warrant checks, 729 business checks, 592 extra patrol requests, 5 overdose/fatality cases, 675 traffic accidents, 22 hit-and-run accidents, 60 injury accidents, and 282 car vs. deer accidents.

Statement from the Sheriff’s Office: “Sheriff Jack Rosa would like to thank the dedicated dispatchers, jail officers, road patrol, investigations, and the Strategic Response Team for their hard work over the last year.  Due to their ongoing efforts the Starke County Sheriff’s employees are really making an impact by serving the citizens of Starke County.  We have increased our partnerships with the schools, community partners, as well as the Starke County Prosecutor’s office.  Together we have been able to charge some significant cases.  We focused on key individuals who have poisoned our county with methamphetamines and fentanyl.  We will continue these efforts into and throughout 2025.  Thank you for your support and partnership.  Let’s continue these successes by working together.”
