Knox Mayor Dennis Estok informed the Knox Board of Works members Wednesday, February 26 that demolition had begun on 18 S. Main Street.
The special assessment of $5,000 that had been placed on the property has been removed from the taxes. Mayor Estok said that once demolition is completed, he’ll be working with the Redevelopment Commission and the Street Superintendent. The initial plan for the property is off street parking.
“We’re still in the process of trying to acquire the other property,” said the mayor. He stated that the property owner had accepted a deal. “Once we get that, then we’ll probably take comments from the public as far as what they would like to see in there.”
Mayor Estok said that the most comments he receives about that location is about turning it into a courtyard where people can go and eat their lunches and spend time outside.
