30-Day Period for Public Comment Regarding Permit for J.W. Hicks Coming to Close

The 30-day period for public comment in regards to a minor source operating permit for J.W. Hicks in Knox is coming to a close.

According to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, or IDEM, they received an application from J.W. Hicks for a permit that will allow the company to construct and operate new equipment that will emit air pollutants; therefore the permit contains new or different permit conditions.

IDEM has reviewed the application and developed preliminary findings, consisting of a draft permit and several supporting documents, which would allow Hicks to make this change.

A copy of that permit application and IDEM’s preliminary findings are on file at the Shricker Public Library in Knox, and include a detailed description of the project, the applicable air pollution control requirements, and how J.W. Hicks will comply with those requirements.

The 30-day period for public comment will come to a close this Monday, April 14th, since the original 30 days date falls on Sunday, April 13th, a day IDEM offices are closed for business.

The process for making a public comment on this project can be found online at http://www.in.gov/idem/public-notices.
