DEA National Take Back Day for Starke County This Saturday

Starke County Sheriff Jack Rosa is encouraging all Starke County residents to drop off their expired, unused, and unnecessary medications to the San Pierre Fire Station at 102 Fisher Street.

The effort is part of the opioid reduction initiative “National Take Back Day” this Saturday on April 26th  from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

“Old, seemingly useless medications which may be lying around in your medicine cabinets or drawers can actually present a very real – but very avoidable – risk to our children, friends, and family members,” Sheriff Rosa said.

The Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Hub Coalition Starke County to promote this event and take preventive action to reduce overdoses in the county, said Executive Director Dawn Pelc.

“As we continue to fight a drug epidemic in Indiana on this day, we remind everyone that pro-active measures against accidental overdoses are year-round,” Sheriff Rosa continued. “If you need motivation, please use National Drug Take Back Day as the spark to start cleaning out your medicine cabinet this week and join the fight against drug addiction and overdose right at home.”

Officers will be on site at the San Pierre Fire Station, 102 Fisher Street to collect your medications this Saturday April 26th from 10-2. A second collection site will be at the Starke County Sheriff’s Office.
