Knox Board of Works Receives Updates from City Superintendents and Police Chief

During the March 26th Knox Board of Works meeting, local Superintendents and the Police Chief gave reports on their respective departments.

Wastewater Superintendent Jason Clemons informed the board that the West Culver Road lift station had been upgraded with a new control panel with a cellular alarm system, two new pumps, four plugs, and a fourth bracket. Each of the 13 lift stations are being cleaned as well. Seven storm basins have been cleaned, three sections of sanitary sewer mains were jetted.  

Street Department Superintendent Jeff Borg informed the board that mill and fill paving project is set for the week of April 8. He also stated that leaf pickup is the first week in April and the first week in May. 

Water Department Superintendent Tim Lindewald stated that two service lines had been repaired after they were hit by boring companies. The department completed a total of 71 locates.  

“I personally want to thank Jeff and the Street Department. They did an awesome job in making me a road and well pad for well four coming in the next few weeks,” said Lindewald. 

Police Chief Chad Dulin reported that last month, his department performed 196 business checks, 48 extra patrols, 20 follow-up investigations, nine lock outs, 110 traffic stops, 10 warrant arrests. Overall, the department responded to 626 calls in February.  

Derek Russell is officially approved by the department’s PERF as of March 5. He requested that the board approve him to be a First-Class Patrolman. The council approved the recommendation.
