According to a press release from the Indiana Laborers’ District Council, this week is National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) 2025, a nationwide initiative dedicated to raising public awareness about work zone hazards and the importance of safety for both workers and motorists.
This year’s theme, “Respect the zone so we all get home,” highlights the critical need for attentiveness and responsible driving in active construction zones.
As the 2025 construction season ramps up, Indiana Laborers are on the front lines-repairing roads, upgrading infrastructure, and enhancing public safety. However, work zones remain high-risk areas where speeding, distracted driving, and reckless behavior can have devastating consequences.
The Indiana Laborers District Council urges all motorists, construction workers, and community members to prioritize safety by:
- Slowing down and following posted speed limits
- Staying alert and avoiding distractions
- Watching for workers and equipment
Throughout the week, the Indiana Laborers District Council will engage with local communities, policymakers, and industry leaders through awareness campaigns, public outreach, and safety initiatives aimed at reducing accidents and saving lives.
