
LA PORTE AND STARKE COUNTIES – The Food Bank of Northern Indiana has announced dates throughout May for free drive-up food assistance in both La Porte and Starke Counties.
The first food assistance event will be for La Porte County and will be at the Last Resort Campground tomorrow, May 8th. The campground is located at 4707 West 1300 South in Hanna. The event will begin at 10am Central Time and continue until noon, or until supplies run out. This drive-up food assistance event will serve 100 households in La Porte County.
There will be another food assistance event the following Thursday, May 15th, taking place from 12:30pm to 2pm Central Time or until supplies run out; with enough supplies to serve 150 households. It will be at the First Church of God in La Porte, located at 2020 West Lincolnway.
The following Thursday, May 22nd, two drive-up food distributions will take place for Starke County. From 9am to 10:30am Central Time, food for up to 150 households will be distributed at Knox United Methodist Church, located at 201 South Shield Street in Knox. From 11:30am to 1pm Central Time there will be a food distribution for up to 150 households at the Hamlet Fairgrounds Lion Club Stand, located at 400 Division Street in Hamlet.
Finally, on May 29th, the following Thursday, there will be a drive-up food distribution event taking place from 10am to noon Central Time or while supplies last, with supplies for up to 250 households, at Tierney Park located at 7520 South Highway 421 in San Pierre.
Food Bank of Northern Indiana states that assorted food items will be offered free of charge at all of these events; with all items being pre-boxed and pre-bagged. Each event is first come, first served, with a limit of one box / bag per household.
